Creating Spotify OAuth Client

To enable secure access to Spotify data, you need to configure OAuth authentication in your Spotify Developer Dashboard. This is the first step toward building a working Spotify Notion integration.

Log in to Spotify and navigate to Spotify Dev Dashboard. Click Create app.

Accept the terms of use.

Fill in the application details. Give your app a name like Note API Connector. Most importantly, add this redirect URI:

Under API access, check Web API — this is all you need to access your Spotify playlists or profile data.

Now it’s time to connect Spotify to Notion through OAuth. Click Create request and select Authorization → OAuth → New.

Review the playlists data in the Response Field Mapping view. As you can see the playlists data items appears as [object Object]. It means the playlist data is nested within the API response.

To extract the correct data, go to Customize Output. Here, you can view the full JSON structure and use the 🎯 selection tool to choose the specific field that contains the nested data. In this case select items field. You can check more details here query nested data.
